Land Clearing Services
Tree and Bush Removal
Land clearing–especially for site development on a forested lot–means taking down trees, excavating stumps, and removing root material. You often have to remove topsoil and organics from the surface layer of the ground to expose buildable soil.
The depth of the initial soil removal depends on a couple of things. It depends first on the kind of soil that’s there. We live in an interesting part of the world, which means we’ve been on sites that have had a foot of topsoil on them that needed to be removed, and others where buildable red clay is at the surface level. So, the depth is specific to each site.
The other factor you have to take into account is what you’re building. If you are trying to put together an eight-foot recessed basement, then that is your initial depth, at least on that side of the project. Most of the time, the support criteria is that you have to reach a certain kind of soil before you can begin building. Typically, we remove topsoil or layered organics until we reach uniform soil, which in this area is red clay.
Stump Griding
With the forestry mulchers, we can flush stumps to the ground, but we can’t sub-soil grind. If you want to remove the heart of the stump, you will have to go below ground, and that’s not something we can do with our mulchers.
Lot Clearing
We work with a wide variety of subcontractors who do our hauling. Doing this has allowed us to remain more economical on the lot clearing side.
The truth is, just in this area, whether it’s on the lake or in Greenville, there are a lot of sites where you either don’t have the room or you have restrictions on how you can dispose of materials on site. Hauling the material off is an important aspect of those kinds of lot-clearing jobs.
Site Prep
This depends on what you’re going to put in. For us, I would say that the simplest side of the spectrum would be cutting an access trail. With a forestry mulcher, we are not disturbing the ground, we are just processing standing vegetation, creating some access, and creating a natural area. That’s pretty much a one-step process.
If you are trying to establish roads, drainage, or prep a site for new construction, then commensurate land clearing is the preferred way of doing that. That can be all the way from cutting in a driveway to finishing out your foundation dig.
How We Approach Homeowners Vs Developers & Builders
Developers and builders are interested in selling people houses or buildings. They tend to want business-like quickness, and we’re happy to do that. These projects are usually one-offs, so we do what we can to build a strong foundation for the future and make an impact during the short time we’re involved.
On the other hand, when we interact with homeowners, we’re typically dealing with a problematic scenario–something is not functioning correctly, or something’s function can be improved. We maintain good relationships with our clients by fixing the problems and ensuring lasting results.
Common Land Clearing Jobs
A standard land clearing job for us would be clearing a lot–sometimes an acre or less–in preparation for home construction. We also see projects from people trying to clear land for a new farm or an equestrian pasture.
Our standard equipment for conventional clearing would be a large excavator and a bulldozer. Then we add in some combat equipment for detail work.
Here's what our clients are saying
As a first time home buyer it was overwhelming for me to think of learning how to manage my lawn on my own and finding the time to do so with a crazy work schedule. But for the past nearly 2 years they have done a fabulous job. I have no complaints. I have also recommend them to people too. I couldn’t imagine any other team helping me to maintain my lawn.
Danielle Harris
Great guys and got right back to me after I called. We struck a deal for my project and I’m waiting for them to get it done. John from upstate brush control recommended them to me. I’m impressed so far.
Bennie Ellenburg
Excellent to work with. On-time, professional, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend!
Geoff Norman
Foltz did a great job clearing thick underbrush and briars on our lot. Keith identified and kept trees that were of value… cleared/mulched the rest. We are very happy with his work, professionalism, and prompt response. I highly recommend!
Jo Bronson
Beyond our expectations!!! We had 3 acres of land that was overgrown with ” junk ” trees, weeds, and brush. We wanted it to look like a park so we had a view to the river at the very end of the property. When they were done it looked EXACTLY as they described. We could not be more thrilled.
